Of course we had to build at least one Yin Yang Deluxe for the show, which brings us to 2017 NAMM bass #3.  For this YYD we decided to do go with some unusual Yin Yang specs, starting with a Ash body/Maple tone block tone-wood combination.  Tonally, this bass is punchy with a powerful, aggressive low end, and punchy, articulate highs.  Normally we would use a 70’s bridge pickup position for this wood combination but we have the bridge pickup a bit closer to the neck, making the tone a little warmer and thicker sounding.

The top of this Yin Yang is made from Flame Maple and Flame Koa.  The Maple top portion of the top and fingerboard are gorgeous in their own right, and serve t accentuate the deep orange color and tight figure of the Koa.  We also built this bass with Koa top dots in the fingerboard, matching pickup covers, and a 5-piece Maple neck with South American Rosewood.
