Introduced in early 1984, the Emperor Double Cutaway 5 and 6 string basses were among the first regularly produced contrabass guitars in the world. The ergonomic contouring and asymetrical body design has helped to make the Emperor 5 and 6's the best selling double cutaway basses in our lineup. The Emperor 5 and 6 string basses which are perhaps our most versatile models, are available without standard configurations offering a wide variety of options to make a bass specifically suited to your playing needs.
Some of the more notable players of the Emperor Series include Marcus Miller, James Genus, Anthony Wellington, Joey Lauricella, Mike Pope, Kenny Davis, Tommy Shannon... the list goes on and on.
The Emperor Series basses are available in 21, 22, and 24 fret configurations; 33", 34", 35", and 36" scales; Dovetail (Deluxe), Neck-through (Elite), and bolt-on neck configurations. The following pickup configurations are also available; P, PJ, JJ, and dual coil.
