Unique Features
Building this gorgeous Viceroy-shaped bass was a labor of love for one of our players / member of the "Fodera Family" out on the West Coast. Our Customer was inspired by Mike Pope's signature instrument but did not want or need its moveable pickups and removable FB extension.
Visually the first thing you'll notice is the Presentation Grade Koa top -- hand selected for our customer from a number of options presented to him. We also were able to use one of the few remaining jet-black Ebony FB's that we still have here in the shop.
The tonal concept behind a Mahogany body, Ebony FB and Koa topped instrument is one of supreme balance...something that covers the entire tonal palate that we bass players normally use without exaggerating any one area. We also employed 70's PUP spacing on this instrument for a bit more definition and cut to the notes.
The neutral set of tone woods combined with the flexibility of our Fodera / Duncan Dual Coil Pickups and Fodera / Pope Custom Shop Preamp ensures that any tone you need out on the gig is just a fingertip away!
